Mijntje #3 - Sekspositief! - release & official presentation
October 31, 2025
Ever since 2008 I've had the honour to provide the coloring for Margreet de Heer's queer comic-series 'Mijntje'. With it's cheerful nature, every page oozing joy of a most infectuous sort, I have always taken great delight in working on Mijntje. For all these years I've been involved with Mijntje, I've had a front-row seat, being first in line to witness this ever expanding body of work. For a long time fans of the series had to piece the episodes together to get a full view of this saga in it's entirety, whereas I had the luxury of having it all at my fingertips on my workstation. Hence it is not without a sense of pride that I announce this publication, for now everyone can share in the full experience, having every Mijntje-episode published to date at their fingertips, too. After succesfully crowdfunding this third album through VoorDeKunst.nl, it's release was celebrated on october 31st, 2025, as it was unveiled by the author during a special presentation at the PIC (the Prostitution Information Center) in Amsterdam. Run by a committed team of sex workers and allies, it is mostly volunteers from the community that make it into the warm, welcoming place that it is. By providing accurate information to as many people as possible, they aim to dispell myths and misconceptions surrounding sex work, and fight the stigma that is still often associated with it. Mijntje's character makes her practically immune to taboo or stigma, and this third album also happens mark Mijntje and Mia's relationship turning polyamorous by introducing a sexworker. A perfect opportunity to bring friends, fans, crowdfunders and family together in the PIC. So, special thanks to them for their help in making the afternoon a success! The albums are published by Uitgeverij Personalia, and are available: right here! New episodes of Mijntje are published at irregular intervals on the Zij aan Zij website and in StripGlossy. Bijlmerboys #9 released Januari 01, 2025
Bijlmerboys #9 is now available. Like the rest of the series, excluding #4 (see below), it is currently available in Dutch only. If you can't read the language, an app with text-recognition and translation-options will be able to help you out there, so don't be shy. You'll be able to impress your friends by telling them you're reading an original comic in Dutch! For a full overview of available issues with summaries of their contents: you'll find it right here! The aforementioned issue #4, titled 'Going Down', is the only issue in the series that was originally written in English, for reasons explained within (spoiler alert: the boys were actually under the impression it might increase sales). It's available to download for free: right here! Bijlmerboys #8 released & minor site-update November 07, 2023
Bijlmerboys #8 is now available. Most pages of this site should now be more forthcoming to anyone reading this on a small screen (yes, smartphones, you smartass!). I've also added an overview-page of the complete series so far, in Dutch: right here!
Underground source now selling Bijlmerboys #7 December 05, 2021
Dutch readers may be delighted to know that Bijlmerboys #7 is available now. According to dubious underground sources, sending an e-mail to bijlmerboys-at-yiri-dot-nl containing your address & the number of booklets you wish to acquire may or may not get you a reply containing payment details.Including postage & packaging to an address in the Netherlands, one booklet will set you back 10 euro's. More info about the Bijlmerboys can be found: right here! Catching up December 21, 2020 It has been 8 years since I updated this page. Rest assured that I've kept myself busy, and have some catching up to do in order to make this site reflect some of that. The smart thing to do would probably be to simply make up a new site from scratch, but with some of the content practically ancient by now, I've grown attached to it enough to say: time be time! I'll be restructuring and adding content one bit at a time, and at some point, hopefully before the end of 2021, I'll be able to announce that yiri.nl has caught up with the present at last :) Chocolate Chips and Rocket Ships July 22, 2012

These compositions are the result of a collaboration of Electra and Renske Vrolijk with composers Lucas Wiegerink, Vanessa Lann, and last but not least, my good friend Michiel Mensingh. His composition Guns n' Rosie, for which I provided him with lyrics, deals with the subject of women at work in the American war economy. Below you can see an interview with Michiel Mensingh as he talks about this particular composition for VPRO's Eigentijds. See related links at the bottom for further details.

It turned out, to my own surprise, that my heart has had some issues for quite a while now. This only became apparent when I went out to post a letter on the morning of the 27th, and barely managed to make it back home as my ticker went into arrest. Luckily Margreet was quick to call for an ambulance, and thanks to the admirable cooperation of police and firebrigade I was hauled out through the window, rushed to hospital, and operated in no-time. For several days I had to remain under observation, which was way more inconvenient, to say the least. Despite having to get used to daily medication, it has left me feeling better than ever! Today Jan Kruis was presented with the very first Marten Toonder-award. Along with the award he was presented with a special tribute-book, containing hommages by many cartoonists and illustrators. For this book, we ourselves came up with this cartoon, a parody of a comic drawn by Jan Kruis in 1972.Related links: English Jan Kruis bio @ comiclopedea Info on tribute-publication @ catawiki Delftsblauw 4 februari 2010 On 26 november 2009 together with Jos Collignon and Auke Herrema, Margreet and Yiri painted a series of Delft Blue tiles for The Koninklijke Delftsche Aardewerkfabriek "De Porceleyne Fles Anno 1653" N.V. to attract attention to their temporary outlet located in the center of Den Haag. The assignment turned out to be great fun and resulted in a second session last februari, together with Gerrie Hondius, Albo Helm, and the guys from Lamelos.

On the 8th of November, Europe's first comics shop celebrated it's 40th anniversary. Founded by Kees Kousemaker in Amsterdam in 1968, Lambiek is now probably the oldest existing comics shop in the world. To commemorate this, Margreet de Heer presented Kousemaker with a very special comic-book created for this occasion by various comic-book artists. In addition to a four-page story by her own hand, the publication contains Lambiek-related accounts by:
Wouter Goudswaard (1991) Edith Kuyvenhoven (1977) Thomas Legebeke (1993) Rutger Ockhorst (1982) Aloys Oosterwijk (1956) Joshua Peeters (1973) The honour of creating the cover befell yours truly. Only a very limited number of copies were printed, though at the time of writing Lambiek's still got several in stock. Related links: http://www.lambiek.net http://www.senoeni.net |
